Labour law
Legal area
Our practice covers the wide field of labour law, including civil servants' law. We handle cases of dismissal, both individual and mass layoffs, and we provide advice on matters like contracts, collective labour agreements, participation in decision-making and reorganisations, but also about more complex cases like accepting a deductible with regard to the Sickness Benefits Acts by temporary employment agencies. Moreover, we start litigation, about threatening mass actions for instance, and represent employers who are held liable in the case of occupational accidents and professional diseases. Our practice includes cases which share common ground with labour law and other legal areas, like corporate law and bodily injury claims. Three of the four lawyers in our practice group are also members of one of our firm's other practice groups. In this way, we keep a broad perspective. Not only do we act as lawyers, we also act as mediators in labour disputes (see mediation).

Way of working
We advise our clients on all aspects of labour law. We provide thorough and clear information, and like to do so at an early stage. We analyse all possibilities and risks, so that your situation will be clear. You will know what's going on, even in the case of a (threatening) conflict. We will then consider the case together with you and select the optimum strategy. We study all the circumstances of the case. We also include the financial aspect in our advice. An amicable settlement is preferred, but if necessary we are also an excellent choice for litigation.
Clients
We represent both employers and employees, though the emphasis is on employers. A number of care institutions are among our clients. We have had many years of good relations with a lot of companies and institutions that are also our clients. The employees we assist are often employed in the higher segment of the labour market.
Lawyers
The labour law group practice of Krans & van Hilten law firm consists of four lawyers, who have about ten years of experience in this legal area on average. This practice group is still growing. We have a broad labour law practice at a high qualitative level. Complex labour cases of different natures fall within the sphere of our services as well as regular dismissal cases. We invest a lot in keeping our expertise up-to-date, using training courses, meetings and internal consultations. We aim to distinguish ourselves with regard to our knowledge. The majority of the lawyers in our group practice have relevant supplementary legal positions.
